The third in our cycle surveying Beethoven and Shostakovich quartets includes another from the Beethoven Op.18, the last of the great mid-period Razumovsky works, and Shostakovich’s 4th quartet composed in 1949, but only able to be premiered in 1953 following Stalin’s death.
