This programme is an exact replica of the Brodsky Quartet‘s new Chandos CD to be released in September 2014 of Andrzej and Roxanna’s string quartet and sextet works, and includes the London premiere of Roxanna’s specially commissioned in memoriam ‘Memories of my Father’.
Andrzej Panufnik, 1914–1991, is not only one of Poland’s most famous composers, but the one who chose London as his home following the dramatic escape from the Soviet authorities in 1954. This concert celebrates his unique contribution to 20th century music, presenting all three of his string quartets, a sextet, and the premiere of a new work composed by his daughter, Roxanna Panufnik.
