A new base for chamber musicians at Kings Place. ChamberStudio offers coaching and support to aspiring up-and-coming chamber groups. It is open throughout the year, and it aims to helpfully complement the residential chamber courses and other annual events already held around Europe. Each week, eminent chamber players and teachers will provide coaching and guidance, and an opportunity to meet other like minded musicians in the wonderful setting of Kings Place.

The LCMS supports ChamberStudio.

17:45 - Harp and Flute Duo
Katherine Sarah Smith (flute)
Laura Pandolfo (harp)

Nino Rota: Sonata for flute and harp
(1911 – 1979) - 12 min
Lowell Liebermann: Sonata for flute and harp
(b. 1961) - 15min
Ekaterina Walter-Kune: Fantasy on the theme of Eugene Onegin for harp solo
(1870 – 1930) - 10min
Marie de Grandval: Valse Melancolique
(1830 – 1907) (if required)

Katherine and Laura hope the concert will be fitting in a number of ways.

Firstly there is the link that both ensembles involve woodwind and strings. Secondly the duo’s performance will feature a work by a living composer (Liebermann) to match the Fribbins Quintet.

Also, the duo will include late 19th Century repertoire from Walter-Kune and Grandval, roughly contemporary with the Brahms Quintet.
