Onyx Brass, one of Britain’s most famous and innovative brass quintets, presents an imaginative and wide-ranging programme of music for brass. As well as arrangements of favourite pieces by JS Bach, Mendelssohn and Shostakovich, they perform Malcolm Arnold’s First Brass Quintet – a leading piece in the brass repertoire, and one of the first to standardise the brass quintet instrumental line-up in the early 1960s. Onyx also performs music by Imogen Holst and John Adams, and deliver the world premieres of new brass quintets by Simon Lesley and Peter Fribbins.
