FribbinsSoftly in the Dusk…’ (after D.H. Lawrence)
Beethoven Sonata for Piano & Cello in D Op.102 No.2
Fauré Piano Quartet No.1 in C minor Op.15

Continuing this season’s Elgar theme, we celebrate the centenary of his beautiful violin sonata, premiered in early 1919. French violinist Philippe Graffin has been associated with Elgar’s music for many years, particularly with his groundbreaking recording of the original version of the violin concerto. Here he is joined by distinguished musical friends in performances of music by Beethoven, Fauré, and Fribbins’s ‘Softly in the Dusk…’ for piano trio, inspired by lines from D.H. Lawrence’s haunting poem ‘Piano’, written in 1918.
