Each suite takes us on an intensely personal journey: Preludes of great emotional depth are followed by dances juxtaposing light-hearted gigues with sarabandes of heart-breaking beauty. As well as being a baroque cellist of renowned virtuosity, Christopher Suckling is a leading expert on cello performance in the baroque era and has made a life-long study of Bach’s wonderful masterpieces.
