Robin Holloway – Quintet for Horn & Strings Op.135 (UK premiere)
Mozart – Quintet for Horn & Strings in E-flat major K.407
Schubert – String Quartet in D minor D.810 ‘Death & the Maiden’
The Sacconi Quartet is joined by Ben Goldscheider on the horn to give the UK premiere of Robin Holloway’s new Quintet for horn and strings paired with Mozart’s beautiful horn quintet. Their programme begins with the Romance from Rachmaninov’s unfinished first quartet and culminates in Schubert’s dramatic and ever-popular ‘Death and the Maiden’ quartet.
