Mozart – String Quartet in G K.387 ‘Spring’ Dowland – Lachrimae Verae (arr. Fribbins) Fribbins – Lachrimae (UK premiere) Beethoven – String Quartet in A minor Op.132

28 Feb 2027, 18:00 GMT
St John’s Church, Waterloo Rd, London SE1 8TY, UK
The Fitzwilliam Quartet has a distinguished reputation for performing British music from the 17th-century to the present day. Over the years, many British composers have been inspired by John Dowland’s ‘lachrimae’ a set of pavans for lute or viols, published in London in 1604. This concert presents the UK premiere of Lachrimae by Peter Fribbins (originally premiered in Ohio, USA), alongside his own arrangement of Dowland’s ‘Lacrimae Verae’. Mozart’s ‘Spring’ quartet and Beethoven’s late Op.132 masterpiece complete the concert.
This performance will last approximately 2 hours, including a 20 minutes interval.
